Vinyl-liner pools

Vinyl-liner pools from a concrete builder

Vinyl has the lowest initial cost of the inground types. Hilltop builds concrete first and offers vinyl too, so the choice gets made with all three on the table.

Chapter 01

Lowest initial cost of the inground types, and what that choice means

Hilltop's own words on vinyl are plain: it has the lowest initial costs of all inground pools. That is the honest place to start a conversation about a liner pool, because the day you sign is the day cost matters most to a lot of families.

There are three ways to build an inground pool: vinyl, fiberglass and concrete. They are different materials built in different ways, and the right one depends on your yard, your budget and how the pool will be used.

Hilltop Pools has built concrete pools out of Jonesboro since 1976, and concrete is where most of the work is. Vinyl is also offered, so you can weigh the types against each other across one table instead of across two companies. Lowest initial cost is a statement about the type, not a quote: every Hilltop price comes from a proposal written after a visit to your property.

Any shape, any depth, any length, and a smooth surface

A vinyl-liner pool can be built to any shape, depth or length. A clean rectangle, a freeform curve, a long narrow run or a deep end are all on the table, so the design starts from the lot and the way you want to use the water.

The liner itself is a smooth, non-porous surface that, in Hilltop's words, doesn't foster algae growth. For an owner that matters in the weeks after handover and every season after it, because a surface that gives algae nothing to hold on to is simpler to keep clean.

Which liner, and how it is fitted, are things to walk through at the consultation with a designer who has seen your property. Bring questions about the surface; the answers belong in the written proposal.

Chapter 03

Pump, liner and salt system: the components worth asking about

Ask what goes into the pump, the liner and the salt system, not only what the pool will look like.

One Google reviewer, Hugh V, described his build this way: “they use top of the line components that I would have never thought to ask for. Like a variable speed pump with thermo mode to the quality of the liner and salt generator to the concrete backed liner instead of steel backed.” That is the kind of list worth putting on the table before any pool is priced.

At handover, the owner is walked through how to maintain the pool, which chemicals to use and the signs that something is going wrong. Hilltop builds that orientation into the finish of the job, so you leave the final walkthrough knowing how everything works.

Vinyl, fiberglass, concrete: where each one stands

Left column: what Hilltop has put in writing. Right column: what the consultation settles for your lot. Where nothing is published, Hilltop will walk through it with you in person rather than guess here.

Vinyl liner

The lowest initial costs of all inground pools. Built to any shape, depth or length. A smooth, non-porous surface that doesn't foster algae growth.

Which liner, which components and what it adds up to on your property. A designer visits the lot, then the written proposal sets out cost and scope.

Fiberglass

One of the three inground construction types, alongside vinyl and concrete.

Hilltop will walk through fiberglass at the consultation, including how it compares with the other two for your yard.

Concrete

Hilltop's primary work since 1976, residential and commercial. Custom features include infinity edges, waterfalls, pool lighting, spas, patios, outdoor kitchens and fire features.

How a concrete build runs from survey to handover is on the residential concrete pools page. How quotes work is on pool prices.

The free, no-obligation consultation is where all three get compared against your property. Set it up through the contact page.
